LOS ANGELES LAKERS - NBA CHAMPS!

Monday, June 15th, 2009

The Los Angeles Lakers have won the Championship of the NBA, defeating the Orlando Magic 99-86, and taking the Finals Series 4 games to 1.  Kobe Bryant was named the Series MVP, averaging more than 30 points per game.  Lakers’ coach Phil Jackson has won his 10th championship, surpassing Red Auerbach for the all-time lead in that catagory.

The Lakers played an all-around superb game on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor. Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom were co-contributors to this championship, the 15th for the Lakers.

Congratulations from Write On Sports to the NBA World Champion Los Angeles Lakers!

LAKERS TWO WINS AWAY FROM CHAMPIONSHIP

Monday, June 8th, 2009

I know…I know.  I have been away from this blog for many, many months. Life has its changes, and my schedule is TOTALLY different. But with the Los Angeles Lakers only two wins away from winning their first “Shaq-less” NBA title, I couldn’t help but step back into WRITE ON SPORTS to submit a blog article.

Today the Lakers won a nail-biting 101-96 victory over the Orlando Magic in Game 2 of the NBA Finals.  The Lakers now lead the series 2-0 as the series shifts to Orlando for Games 3, 4, and 5.  It was a huge win for the Lakers as they maintain home-court advantage and emotional momentum going into the Magic’s home territory.

Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom were the heroes of this game, unlike the norm where Kobe Bryant bails out the Lakers.  Bryant played his occasional decoy role, and the other Lakers stepped up into the hero roles.

Game 3 will be on Tuesday night and we are looking forward to the Lakers’ opportunity to take a commanding 3-0 lead, which would almost guarantee a 4th ring for Kobe Bryant and a 15th World Championship for the Los Angeles Lakers.

What’s your opinion?  We’d like to know.
